The regional wine sector has been growing in the period from 2012 to 2020: the area under vines has increased, as well as the production (both grapes and wine) and the value of exported wines. Technological innovation and respect for environmental sustainability are important. The COVID-19 pandemic had consequences also in this sector, which was able to react by diversifying the reference markets and the distribution channels and by investing in digital (social media).

Friuli Venezia Giulia, however, also honors its brewing tradition: in line with Italy, in recent years there has been an exponential increase in the number of craft activities, as well as an increase in the areas dedicated to distichous barley and hops.
