Obiacco chestnut

It is a tall tree with cracked bark, crossed by deep longitudinal grooves. The leaves are medium in size and have the upper page of a dark green colour, while the lower page is lighter, without pilosity and with very evident ribs. The branches are medium-length internodes, with generally smooth green bark with darker shades; numerous and small lenticels. The burs contain three fruits, are medium-sized, they have a spherical shape and long, uniformly distributed thorns. Each fruit is quite large (average weight 13g), elliptical in shape and reddish in colour with darker streaks.
