Vito d’Asio marron chestnut

The tree is medium-sized, with a bark that has evident longitudinal ribs, with a slightly spiralling pattern. The leaves are medium in size and have the upper page of a glossy dark green colour, with a wavy appearance, while the lower page is lighter, with little pilosity and evident ribs. The branches are medium-long internodes and have a medium-rough bark, with evident thin longitudinal grooves and medium-large lenticels. The burs are large, spherical in shape and contain two to three fruits, with long, stiff, and evenly distributed thorns. The fruit is large (average weight 15.5g), with an oval-enlarged shape and reddish-brown in colour, with dark longitudinal streaks, elevated and rather spaced.
