The Strucchi
Ingredients for the dough:
250 gr. of flour "00",
16 gr. of brewer's yeast,
75 gr. of sugar,
80 gr. of butter,
1 egg and 1 yolk for the dough,
The white of one egg
1 vanilla bean,
Grated peel of 1/2 lemon,
Warm milk to taste,
Salt to taste,
Oil for frying.
Ingredients for the filling:
50 gr. pine nuts,
100 gr. of citrons (candied fruit),
250 gr. of shelled walnuts,
300 gr. of raisins,
150 gr. almonds or hazelnuts,
50 gr. dark chocolate,
1 small glass of Rhum,
1 small glass of Grappa friulana,
½ cup breadcrumbs,
1 teaspoon of cinnamon.
Strucchi a typical dessert of the Natisone Valleys, are presented as a short pastry bundle, filled with the dough of the typical Gubana. A tasty, hearty dessert that, accompanied by a small glass of Grappa friulana, is at its best.
